Help for Jackson County survivors of sexual violence just got easier with a new program offered at Harris Regional. The hospital’s Forensic Nurse Program began seeing patients this week [Aug. 1], and officials say it is a much needed service that is not available outside of Buncombe County, and a significant step towards access to care in rural communities, according to a news release. This will also provide law enforcement with a new tool to help prosecute offenders, the release noted. Forensic nurses can testify in court as expert witnesses in a sexual assault case.
