WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) – Waynesville leaders are formally calling on the North Carolina Department of Transportation to put the South Main Street makeover back on the road project to-do list. Waynesville leaders want S. Main Street renovations, stuck in limbo for nearly 15 years, to take priority over the Russ Avenue project. The NCDOT removed the project because of budget constraints, officials said in a release.
The town board has unanimously agreed the Russ Avenue project should be put on hold so the South Main Street project can happen first. Leaders are now waiting on a response from the NCDOT.
