State assistant DA’s in Haywood prosecute residents in targeted effort to take drug dealers off streets

State assistant district attorneys in Haywood County successfully prosecuted several residents last week for trafficking illegal drugs, as part of a targeted effort to take dealers off the streets. Two Macon County men pleaded guilty to drug-related crimes, dating back to 2019, one of whom was sentenced to up to 93 months, with the second recieving a maximum of 213 months, in connection with his arrest last year, as the result of an undercover investigation.

Five drug traffickers pleaded guilty to multiple charges and are now in the N.C. Division of Adult Corrections, a press release states. Collectively, the defendants will spend a total minimum of 350 months in prison.
