Now in its second year, WCU’s annual Planting Day event recognized donors. Western Carolina University and the Cullowhee Society were established in 2020 and has provided more than 1,400 student scholarships. Following the event, a native Fraser magnolia sapling will be planted in honor of Madison Legacy Society donors. For Cullowhee Society donors, four different native plant varieties will be planted in their honor, organizers said.
