The Sylva Fire Department will soon make history by adding several full-time firefighters to its roster. Although some town leaders wanted 12, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners agreed to pay for eight full-time firefighters. The board voted unanimously to move ahead with hiring the full-time firefighting force.
