North Carolina’s first case of monkeypox virus infection has been confirmed in a Haywood County resident. The Haywood County Health and Human Services Agency (HCHHSA) said the report was confirmed after testing at the State Public Health Laboratory according to a news release sent out by the county. HCHHSA is working with the N.C. Department of Health notify individuals who may have been in contact with the person who contracted the contagious disease.
