SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed Monday that a tornado had 95 miles per hour peak winds when it touched down in Swain County last week, leaving devastaton in it’s wake. The 0.4 mile long, 50 yard wide EF-1 twister, reported north of Bryson City, resulted in three homes being damaged, including blowing a large part of the roof off of one house. The severe spring storms also downed trees throughout the area. There were no reported deaths or injuries.
