CULLOWHEE, N.C. (WLOS) – They’ve been in place for decades, but for now, UNC System schools are waiving the requirement to take standardized tests for admission. The lingering pandemic is being cited for the decision to remove the SAT and the ACT from the required application packet to UNC schools for the next two years, including Western Carolina University. The UNC Board of Governors voted in Cullowhee last week to waive the requirement through the fall 2024 semester.
