The name of the Sylva man injured in a head on collision Monday night on N.C. 107 and E. Main St. has been made public. Dale Henry Hooper, 54, was heading towards Cullowhee when, according to a witnesses, the 54 year old local resident apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a vehicle heading in the opposite direction. The jaws of life were used to get Hooper out of the vehicle, who according to police was airlifted to an area hospital with what seemed to be a potential head injury. The other driver miraculously escaped with minor injuries.
