SYLVA, N.C. – A woman is facing child abuse charges after police say her 3-year-old was found abandoned in a locked minivan at a Sylva McDonald’s. Sylva Police say they recieved a call from someone who said the toddler had been alone in the vehicle, which was in the parking lot, for approximately 30 minutes. Police said an investigation revealed the mother had forgotten the child was asleep in the van when she left the area with friends last Wednesday.
