The boots-on-the-ground investigation into the disappearance of Jackson County resident Aaron Fortner, 25, is ending, at least for now, after state and local agencies combed miles of terrain for more than a week. Investigators continue exploring leads and interviewing acquaintances. Officials say Fortne weeks ago [March 1] sending the former Smoky Mountain High School men’s soccer coach skidding 39 feet into the guardrail. He is in an upper body brace for the next couple months or so, he said. The other driver miraculously walked away with a few scratches. Brown was charged with failure to yield right of way.
