A Sylva man convicted of getting a girl younger than 15 pregnant in a child sex abuse case will spend at least the next two decades in prison. A judge sentenced Shawn Standingdeer, 35, on six felony child rape charges and ordered him to serve the state’s mandatory-minimum sentence on each count for a total of 240 months to 348 months in prison. The teen gave birth in 2021. DNA proved Standingdeer is the father.
