Few details released in fatal shooting over the weekend in Cherokee

Few details are being released about a fatal shooting over the weekend in Cherokee. Officers with the Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD) responded to a report of shots fired just before midnight [11:22 p.m.] in the parking lot of a McDonald’s on Casino Trail and found two men with gunshot wounds, one of whom was pronounced dead on scene, police reports state. The other man was airlifted to Mission Hospital. Officials say a suspect is in custody in connection to the shooting. The CIPD and the FBI are continuing to investigate the incident.
