All the lines on the COVID-19 graphs seem to point downward, including in Jackson County, as the third wave of COVID-19, has apparently peaked and steps towards a more normal world are being taken. The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services updated the COVID-19 guidance toolkit for public schools across the state, and as of Monday, students exposed to COVID-19 who don’t show any symptoms can stay at their desks in their classrooms. However, the toolkit still recommends that school districts in the bright red counties on the COVID map, those with high transmission rates, have a universal masking requirement. Jackson is still a “red” county.
MEANWHILE…
The Jackson County Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting at 6 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the Central Office on Hospital Road to discuss the new recommendations.
