Maggie Valley road work has some residents concerned

Residents have expressed mixed feelings about N.C. DOT’s Jonathan Creek Road/U.S. 276 improvement project in Maggie Valley. Community members got a sneak peak of maps, asked questions and submitted feedback at a forum hosted by the department last week [Dec. 7], in Maggie Valley, with some concerned about what impact the changes will have, especially business owners whose property lies directly in its path, and others noting the current road design has resulted in traffic accidents and something does need to be done. Work to convert the intersection to a two-lane roundabout is scheduled to begin in Sept. 2024, according to an N.C.DOT press release. Engineers estimate it will take two to three years to complete
