Jackson County residents who cannot afford their water and sewer bills may be eligible for assistance under a new program created by the federal government. The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is designed to help low income families who may be facing disconnection or have already been disconnected after moratoriums on utility shut-offs enacted early in the COVID-19 pandemic expired, Karmon Dupree, Jackson County Department of Social Services information processing supervisor said. Renters are also eligible.
