New map districts map means big changes for Haywood County voters

A new map for state legislative districts means big changes for Haywood County voters. With just weeks to go before candidates begin signing up for the 2022 election, Haywood will no longer be split between two state House seats, and instead will be under one House district, along with neighboring Madison County to the north. That seat is currently held by incumbent Rep. Mark Pless, a Reoublican from Bethel. A Democratic candidate has yet to come forward, in part due to the waiting game over how the new district lines would fall. The new district includes Waynesville and Lake Junaluska.

MEANWHILE…

The new district will make things easier for voters who’ll no longer have to figure out which House race they vote in depending on where they live.
