Mast General Store is partnering with MANNA FoodBank to help feed kids in need, as part of their annual campaign to make sure no child goes hungry. The annual event aimed at fighting childhood food insecurity throughout the home region returns Oct. 18-31. MANNA FoodBank will receive Food for Kids donations from the Waynesville, Asheville and Hendersonville Mast Stores. This food bank, founded in 1982, serves 16 counties in Western North Carolina. Its Feeding Kids Year-Round program provides emergency food assistance to public school students throughout the region. A purchase of Merrell footwear through Oct. 31 supports the youngest members of the community with a $15 donation to MANNA FoodBank. In Waynesville, the Mast Store is at 63 N. Main St.. According to No Kid Hungry, the latest estimations show that as many as 13 million children live in food insecure homes where access to proper nutrition and sufficient meals is limited or unavailable.
