Jackson County officials are asking the public to “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” during Fire Prevention Week. Through Oct. 9 the week-long effort highlights steps the public can take year-round to protect their homes and families. In years past, emergency personnel went into schools to talk to kids. Jackson County Fire and Life Safety would visit all the elementary schools reaching more than 2,000 students annually. However, officials said this year COVID-19 has cancelled inperson demonstrations.
