Sylva’s inaugural Pride celebration draws hundreds

Sylva’s inaugural Pride celebration was Saturday at Bridge Park with a turnout of about 250-350 people. Pride is a term in the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) community, used to describe many events, organizations and institutions that raise awareness of LGBTQ issues. The event included a parade down West Main Street and a family-friendly drag show during the day. One protester did show up urging attendees to turn to Jesus.
