CANTON, N.C. (WLOS) – The mountain community is mourning the loss of Canton Middle School Athletic Director and coach, Steven Daniel “Steve” Ledford. According to his obituary, Ledford passed away on Sept. 2, at Mission Memorial Campus. A memorial service was held on Monday [Sept. 6] for the Western North Carolina native who worked at Reynolds Middle School for 11 years and at Canton Middle School for 18 years. He also served as a deacon at High Street Baptist Church for three decades. Ledford was 50 years old.
