CANTON, NC (FOX Carolina) – Local residents are still reeling in from Tropical Storm Fred that left devasting damage in its wake. It’s been a month and many Pigeon River residents in the Town of Canton in Haywood County are still seeing the effects as some people’s homes remain badly damaged and others completely obliterated. Six people lost their lives as a result of the flooding, and nearly 700 households reported damage as well as many businesses.
