Collegues are bidding adieu to longtime Jackson County Clerk of Superior Court Ann Melton. After 17 years on the job Melton recently announced that she will not seek reelection and will retire at the end of her term late next year. She was appointed in 2004 and has been reelected four times. Melton will complete her term, which ends Dec. 5, 2022. This will be the first time in four decades there has not been an incumbent on the ballot for the office of Clerk of Superior Court. The last time was in 1978.
