After working hard for the last 10 years, one Jackson County sheriff’s deputy is taking early retirement.K-9 officer Jax, a Labrador retriever, was officially retired by county commissioners at the board’s Aug. 17 meeting.The board voted unanimously to transfer control of Jax from the sheriff’s office to his former handler, Sgt. Megan Rhinehart.Jax has served with JCSO since he was 21 weeks old.
