The Sylva Town Board has heard the latest developments on landslides that have taken place along Allen Street, which has now been closed for more than a year. Two slides are on town property. A third slide, which was the worst one, is not on town property. The town hired consulting firm Kessel Engineering to map the slides and what it will take to repair them. Kessell determined that the slides were the likely result of groundwater moviong underneath the surface. The engineering firm has come up with a couple of solutions, but the town has not yet decided how to proceed, and has not determined yet how much the repairs will cost.
