Haywood County Sees Big Jump In COVID-19 Vaccination Rate

Good news in Haywood COunty regarding the number of people who have been vaccinated. County health officials say the total number of people who received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine rose by 45 percent between January 25th and February 1st. That’s the highest percentage rise in Western North Carolina. But, that means vaccination rates in other counties are not rising nearly as much. As of a few days ago, just under 12 percent of Haywood County’s estimated population had been vaccinated. That number wa sonly 7.5 percent in Macon County, 7.9 percenyt in Swain, and only 5.8 percent in Jackson County.
