Community Bids Farewell To Beloved Fire Chief

A community bid farewell to its beloved fire chief on Sunday. A funeral procession of fire trucks and other emergency responders led the procession for fire chief Darrell Woodard, who died after a battle with COVID-19. Woodard was one of the only original members of the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department since its inception in 1978. He had been the chief for just over 40 years. Manhy fellow firefighters called him a brother or father figure.
